We have our system set up to automatically order a repeat lactate in 3 hours whenever lactate ordered. If the initial lactate is less than 2 the order can be deactivated. We determined this worked better for us to prevent fallouts rather than depending on someone to remember to order the 2nd lactate. Our EMR is not sophisticated enough to trigger based on the lactate level.
