We had the same issue at my facility, but they are not supposed to code shock without clarify (sending a query to the MD). I suggest reviewing the queries also b/c sometime not all info is present or they may paint only the picture of Septic shock to the provider. I had several cases where is was cardiogenic or hypovolemic shock versus septic shock.

I believe they can also code septic shock if hypotension. Is this true? Thanks, Debbie Chambless Sepsis Coordinator Osceola Regional Medical Center Kissimmee, Fl 34371 407-518-3949
