We have had some try to deny for sure. I try to help medical records out by
defending why we feel they are sepsis/severe sepsis/septic shock. Sometimes
they may just need some help with the criteria to be able to prove they are one
of those.

Subject: [Sepsis Groups] Claims denials using SEP-1 vs. Sepsis-3 definitions of
sepsis

Has anyone experienced denials from payers based on provider documentation
using SEP-1 vs. Sepsis-3 definitions of sepsis? If so, what changes did you
make to your documentation/coding/billing?

Thank you,
Amanda
