I haven't used this notation for a while but it seems to have broken
with a recent update...
@db << {:tags|1 => 'hello'}
gives..
undefined method `to_sym' for #<Sequel::SQL::Subscript:0xb7a7c6e8
@f=:tags, @sub=[1]>
