Hi Jonathan,

If you would like to create a patch I would be happy to help you add it in.
This seems like a good idea.

Cheers, Robert

In my software, I want to know when the controller is done initializing so I
can start talking to the database. I noticed that there is a controller
notification sent out when a virtual database is added, but that isn't
sufficient enough. I need to know when the controller has started listening
for connections. The org.continuent.sequoia.controller.core.Controller class
already provides this information to the logger. In the launch() method, at
the end of it, it logs a "controller ready" message.

For our purposes, I added in a JMX notification there using a new type,
"SequoiaNotificationList.CONTROLLER_LISTENING_TO_REQUESTS." This allows my JMX
client to know when the controller is completely done initializing so I can
start using the DB.

I think this would be a valuable notification, and just wanted to suggest that
in Sequoia 2.10.11 you added it in.

If there's a place I should submit this idea, let me know.

I haven't submitted any ideas to open-source projects in the past, and I know
this is more managed than some, so I didn't know how you'd prefer I go about it.

If you need more information, let me know.

Thanks,
