Since, Sequoia holds all the information of Dumps, Backends, Checkpoints on the Recovery Log Database. My question is that what will happen if the machine that contains “Recovery Log Database” gets down?

The controller will continue to work but the recovery log will be lost. If you have a single controller, you will have to disable all backends, restart the recovery log database and perform a new initialization procedure (using the initialize command of the console to reset the recovery log). If you have another controller running, you will have to recover the log from the other controller (restore log command in the console). Another (not recommended) solution is to have a redundant recovery log (using Sequoia) in a separate virtual database without recovery log (to prevent endless recursion). But this usually hurts performance.

Hope this helps,
Emmanuel
