I was prepared to the "do it yourself" answer :-)

Everytime I look to avalon/cornerstone updates I loose myself around plenty
of new "libraries/frameworks/components/containers" replacing
avalon/phoenix/cornerstone :-(

I really don't understand the whole branch tree that has been created and
the specific projects responsibilities.

I think that we can remove phoenix/avalon dependency from james but we will
depend on cornerstone for a long time, so it's better to know how to check
cornerstone status!

I've just subscribed to excalibur developers mailing list to monitor what
happens.

Looking at the archives I see they are releasing an RC2 on August, the 14:
good to know that excalibur is alive :-) (as it contains cornerstone).
