He probably relate to the following scenario:
- user inbox named with the WHOLE email address so we don't have foo and bar
but [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]
- so [EMAIL PROTECTED] is a different user from [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you don't
need to specify an alias for every user (foo.at.example.com or similar).

I didn't investigate what this would mean in james code/configuration.

The latter probably would need a single smtpserver serving multiple
mailstores (with different remote managers).
Not investigated this too, but I think this would  need a lot of changes.

I have a local patch to support multiple spool/spoolmanagers for a single
installation but this is not enough.
