And here is my preferences: > I searched the james site/docs and i found no "versioning > rules" so we can simply vote it, or better the PMC can choose. > We probably need a single vote to: > - choose to drop java 1.3
YES as it solve problems with SMIME and we probably already done this with the upgrade to dnsjava-2.0.0. > - choose wether to ship without bcprov and let the user > download it from bc site I thi we should link to http://www.bouncycastle.org/latest_releases.html from the config.xml section where we put sample usage of the SMIME mailets. We could add to the distro when/if asf lawyers will give us the permission! > - choose the release name (2.3.0 / 3.0.0) I'm for 2.3.0 (see why in the previous message), but I'm happy with 3.0.0 too. > - choose wether to remove mm.mysql from the sources I would like to remove it but I'm happy anyway. > - choose wether to enable file repositories or derby by default I'm not sure about this. I think we should insert it as an option by now: I don't like releasing as default a feature I never used before this week. I would probably go for "derby as an option" if we ship as 2.3.0 and with "derby as default" if we ship 3.0.0.
