Stability of the repository is different from stability of the running code.
James 2.2.0 has known bugs that are solved in the current trunk. Until
someone prove it to be different I think that current trunk has less bug
than James 2.2.0.
I can confirm this: the trunk seems more stable than 2.2.0 for me too.
(checked with my humble set of tests :) )
