Norman,

However, I do not believe that we are going to copy trunk and have a stable
release a few months later. Why? A few facts:

SVN diff between 2.2 RC1 and final: 23304 lines
SVN diff between 2.3 RC1 and final: 15858 lines
SVN diff between 2.2 and 2.3 final: 63641 lines
SVN diff between 2.3.0 and trunk: 104,415 lines

Time from first 2.3 alpha to 2.3 release: 8 months
Time from the 2.3 RC1 to 2.3 release: 3 months

I can follow you. (...as I would literally translate the German
equivalent of "that is also what I think") ;-)

But until we branch trunk, review all of
the changes from the stable code, and get serious about preparing a release,
any assertion that this release cycle will substantially differ from
previous ones is at best speculative.

Right. For the record, when I said I would work on "trunk" I never
committed myself to an exact date.

Everything within the time range 2.3.0 + 6 months is unreastic. Let's not hurry.

If I really thought that trunk was a steaming pile of crap, I'd say so.

To be honest, this is exactly how I interpreted your words at times.
Good to have that corrected. :-)
