no vote at apache really commits anyone to anything other than the
immediate action. the future will look after itself in due course.

so, there's no need to commit to anything other than agreeing that 3.0
is a better label for trunk than next-major

probably but there's no need to take that decision now

yes - my proposal is simply to change the label for trunk from next-major to 3.0
