Subscribe fails with maildir mailbox

With Maildir mailbox, create a user and connect on user's inbox from
thunderbird.
Create a few folders under inbox;
Everything's ok: you can view the folders, move mails within...
Delete the mail account in thunderbird
Now, create in thunderbird a new account connecting to the same user.
You can only see inbox and trash, you can not subscribe to the inbox subfolders.
Thunderbird shows the list of folders (when you righ-click on inbox and select
subscribe), but after asking for subscription, it simply does not show the
folders under the inbox.
Subscribe command is sent to james, james answer something like (can not
subscribe to ...) (have to redo it for exact message). No exception in james.
Folders are present on file disk.
If you do the same scenario with jpa or jcr, it simply works fine, so i think
it's a maildir issue (not sure...).
