Eric, I tried with plain vanilla (in-memory) James installation and faced the same issue. I have never used any custom mailet nor changed any spring jars. To install Lotus Notes, we used CZJ1LEN.exe. From the list provided, you need to use ibm-lotus-notes-8.52.i586.deb.
