Normally you need to set up an "MX" record for the domain name to point to a
host e.g. mail.domain.com. You then need this host to have an "A" record
giving the ip address of the mail server.

As you arnt using a real domain, you wont have these! If james is running
properly then you should be able to login using 127.0.0.1 as the server name
for pop and smtp.

Not knowing exactly what goes on in james, there is the possibility that
this may not work, as james may require dns entries to be set up properly.

Also, as you have dnsserver set to 127.0.0.1, do you actually have a dns
server running on your local machine?

Daniel.

How do you try to send mail to that server? Is the domain present in your
DNS?
