Can you post here the 2 different mysql ini? I've them in my system, but I want to be sure they are like mine and we are discussing the same thing. Can you also tell me what mysql server are you using (version, platform and where did you get the specific binaries: your distribution vs mysql website) and what version of connector/J are you using?
