Thanks for the reply! You've got me one step further. I re-imported the certificates using portecle (which is a LOT easier than keytool!), then tried starttls on port 143. Thunderbird now sees the imap server when I set up an account, but can't authenticate the password, no matter what encryption setting I use. Does that plainAuthenticationDisallowed tag go within the <tls> block or just at the <imapservers> level?
