Pardon me if this is a bit off topic, but this is a subject I've been
meaning to bring up for a while. My father-in-law is the principal
of a K-8 school, and I've helped them out with their technology on
many occasions. I don't think I've ever seen any articles on
applying SOA to the elementary education area. Admittedly, they may
not have the integration requirements of the Fortune 500, but I'm
sure there probably are some good scenarios where it could be
applied. I know from discussions with my father-in-law that there
are SaaS options available for school administration functions.
Thanks for indulging my curiosity! If I'm ever in a position to be
philanthropic, I'd love to fund an open source effort for an
elementary school administration system.
