Architecturally, I think it can be made to work in most cases one way or 

another but it's gonna be a tradeoff between centralized versus 

scattered versus flexibility of reporting etc.



True; I'm just trying to find out how others have made their decision - i.e., how the respective tradeoffs influenced the ultimate decision.
