Patrick, the message I keep hearing from the REST crowd is that you should have 
wide breadth in API interface so that you have less dependencies on details 
that 
  decrease flexibility in use.  I'm merely saying that there are some details 
which you can't give wide breadth if you want to control how some parts of the 
system work.
