Dear All

The thing I find most difficult to follow is when people reply to, or comment on, a message some way back in a thread. When several people do this, the thread becomes a number of interleaved conversations.

You can generally find out what someone is commenting on, or replying to, by scrolling down to see the message that was used as the basis for the reply. But even doing this does not always make the thread of the conversation clear.

It would help if everyone adopted a standard of formatting their messages along the following lines:

If abc is replying to message by xyz, he/she formats the message as follows:

xyz said:

> extract 1 from xyx's message
> extract 1 from xyx's message cont.
> extract 1 from xyx's message cont.

abc reply or comment to extract 1
abc reply or comment to extract 1 cont.
abc reply or comment to extract 1 cont.

> extract 2 from xyx's message
> extract 2 from xyx's message cont.
> extract 2 from xyx's message cont.

abc reply or comment to extract 2
abc reply or comment to extract 2 cont.
abc reply or comment to extract 2 cont.

etc.

This would make things much easier for the reader  (although perhaps not for the writer!).

Rgds
Ashley
