I think your best bet then, would be to add the capabilities of WS-* to the Web. Some of thats already happening, e.g. the handful of proposed HTTP extensions for coordinating reliable non-idempotent updates (akin to WS-*'s "reliable messaging", only without a name that's an oxymoron 8-). Mark.
