That's pretty close to how it's used in practice, in my observation.
But that's not a good thing 8-)  Can you name a system that *isn't*
SOA by that definition?

It's funny that we'll accept essentially meaningless definitions for
software terms, yet for little else.  Could you imagine if we defined
Hermitage to be "red wine", or Amedei as "chocolate", or a Lipizzaner
Stallion as a "horse"?

Definitions need to be sufficiently precise in order to enable one to
distinguish what is from what isn't.
