I know I'll get laughed at but, the Federal Enteprise Architecture has a
Service Component Reference Model (SRM) that is actually a good starting
point http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/egov/a-2-EAModelsNEW2.html . It
lists major collections plus individual services any organization might
need. Of course, for commercial purposes, some collections need to be
expanded and others contracted but, there's over 200 business operations
services identified which makes for a decent check list.

Subject: [service-orientated-architecture] Service Identifcation
Framework
Hi All,
I am looking for a generic framework or a methodogy for
identifying business domain services for any particular Business Domain.
Basically a top-down approach for service identification. Once the
services are identified is there any framework/methodology for defining
the realization of services looking at both top-down and a bottom-up
approach by keeping in perspective the current application portfolio.
Any pointers in this regards is highly appreciated.
Regards,
Kamlesh
