TOPICS
The Symposium offers presentations and panel discussion that focus on
Information Quality related methodologies and best practices. These
general IQ topics include: Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance,
Business Intelligence, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Integration,
and Data Warehousing. In addition, the Symposium scheduled to offer
three parallel tracks on Government, Healthcare, and Business (1-day
tracks on Day 2). These tracks are intended to address
industry-specific topics and at the same time promote cross-industry
learning.
For example, Dr. David Alberts from the Office of the Secretary of
Defense, the author of Network Centric Warfare and Power to the Edge,
will discuss how U.S. Department of Defense and its partners are
leveraging information by adopting innovative and non-traditional
approaches to command and control and to organizations. The lessons
learned could benefit other civilian government agencies as they
transition toward a citizen-centered results oriented paradigm as well
as helping business firms meet information sharing demands in a
networked world.
Government Track:
* Implementing key goals of DOD's Network-Centric strategy
* Overcoming information sharing barriers
* Understanding the Data Quality Act and what it means to federal
agencies
Healthcare Track:
* Compliance with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA and 21
CFR Part 11
* Improving data submissions to health insurance companies or for
public reporting
* Using data for strategic planning and evaluation of patient care
quality and efficiency in healthcare organizations
* Ensuring data availability and integrity in the context of new
information system implementations in healthcare organizations
Business Track:
* Enterprise-level data integration of application "silos": Master
Data Management (MDM)
* Governing information quality for restructuring, mergers, or
acquisitions
* Engineering business process to dramatically improve productivity.
* Managing data and information quality in supply chain management

I learned about this from Burton Group (Anne's employer). The
programme looks as if it might well suit many of you despite the lack
of specific mention of SOA.
