Gervas, Though I've been in lurk-mode for 2 years, I believe that CC is (besides a new operating model for IT), the application of SOA to the IT domain instead of a business domain. In that sense, it makes sense to include it here (and given that cloud-tech never really took off).
I'm not sure what rename would make sense - "Cloud, Web and Service Architectures"? "Cloud 9 from Outer Space"? "Fluffy Services and Cobwebs?".... Naturally the SOA tag appeals to the current participants here but likely keeps away new participants that tend to have "moved on" from SOA... Thank you all for building it up to a membership level of over 2,600, and thank you also those who have taken the time and trouble to contribute such valuable and useful postings. Time moves on as does technology. I was reflecting that just as some years ago people realised that SOA had an identity and meaning which was not ineluctably tied to Web Services, so now the public debate and discussion on SOA alone is obviously waning. Given that there seems to be general acceptance of cloud computing (CC) structures being built on SOA structures, do you think it reasonable to incorporate CC into this Group? If so should we rename it and to what? Your feedback would be much appreciated. Gervas Group owner/moderator __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
