I can start with the good news - I'm happy to make a contribution to the
project by writing up some documentation covering a step by step guide to
getting ServiceMix 3.0 up and running on Geronimo 1.1 - I'm a ServiceMix
newbie but a pretty good technical writer.....

The bad news is that I'm volunteering because I cannot get ServiceMix to
work. After spending about a day going through the binary distribution and
the source from SVN I'm more confused than when I started about how to
actually get ServiceMix working. I started with a fresh install of Geronimo
1.1, a fresh download of Maven (2.0.4), a fresh checkout of ServiceMix code
(from todays trunk), and I get a bunch of build failures when I run through
the:

 "mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true -Dprofile=step1 install
mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true -Dprofile=step" install"

sequence, and after this I'm not clear on what do actually do, i.e. which
directories are deployable, what actually needs to get deployed? are the
geronimo1-1 projects in the sandbox deployable? is servicemix-web
deprecated? which Maven command should I run in the "geronimo" directory
after running the build process? etc. etc.

So the offer is there - if anyone can help me get through my install
problems I will write it up for the rest of the world. I'll supply all
relevant Maven/ServiceMix/platform details if I get any takers

Thanks, Michael.

p.s I've been impressed with what I've seen of the architecture for
ServiceMix - really looking forward to having a working install to play
with. I'm an Ant veteran but a newcomer to Maven so lots of what is taken
for granted in the docs is difficult for me to debug.
