ServiceMix has some dependency on spring. Mainly, servicemix JBI components
all use spring, so you won't be able to remove it.
However, Spring is usually hidden when you use the standard configuration
because we have our own xml schemas for the configuration. This means you
don't necessary have to lean spring to use ServiceMix, and in any
cases, the most
used part of spring in ServiceMix is the xml configuration (which is
just another
xml schema).

ServiceMix uses a lot of external libraries: jms, transactions, http,
xquery, etc ...
and you do not have to learn all of them to use ServiceMix.

I am evaluating several ESB frameworks to adopt in our next project. People
here are conservative and I need to justify the adoption of any new tool or
framework. Questions:

- service mix is coupled to Spring ?
- can I use it without include Spring in my team skills ?

My company don't use Spring, so it will be difficult to sale a Spring based
framework to them :)

I read the other messages here about Spring, but the most of them are
related to Spring configuration and usage, none about a good reason to adopt
Spring....
