Hey all,
I have been talking about a framework I have been working on for using
Class.forName() for template based servlet execution for quite a while now.
Well, I finally have something packaged up to show you all now. I highly
suggest that you take an open minded look at it, I think it may change your
minds about how things are currently done.
The point of Dash is that a developer can remain in the Java language
without having to learn or switch to XML/XSL/XSP or other template languages
(ie: Webmacro and FreeMarker) in order to achieve the Html and Logic
abstraction that template based web application websites require. This
approach is not for everyone, but it is a great solution for the people who
need it. It can also be integrated with existing WebMacro/FreeMarker
websites by specially creating Screens to parse templates. Screens can also
be created to read files from other websites as well as off disk. This makes
it easy to have designers simply put the body of a page on disk and Dash can
serve these files when requested.
An early alpha release (1.0a1) is available for download now. It is fully
Open Source software (released under the LGPL license). It is fairly bug
free, but definately feature incomplete.
Much more information about this framework can be found on the Working-Dogs
website:

I currently do not have a mailing list for dash setup, but will have one
soon. So, until then, email me privately if you have questions/comments.
Have fun,
-jon stevens
