The only part I objected to was the "it encourages stupid people to
stay stupid" part.
I fully agree with you that the STM is no panacea. In fact, it can
lead the unsuspecting
into trouble.
However, multi-threading is new to most programmers.
I have degrees in CompSci and I can see the blank stare on people's
faces when i try to explain to them
how Servlets do threads. But I know they are not stupid, just
bewildered.
