Sven --

For the non-cookies solution of session management, you need to take the
responsibility of rewriting all the URLs you generate in your HTML. This
will append the session id to all the links. Its a valid session mgmt API
which is supported by many of the webservers and servlet engines.

The webservers/servlet engines do take the responsibility of *generating*
the session ids(some have had small problems about uniqueness).
Alternatively, you can ignore all the that and manage your own session ids
etc.

Default behaviour of all the webservers/servlet engines is to use cookies
for passing session ids back and forth. If you wish to use your own session
management and not use cookies, you need to set the flag in the
webserver/servlet engines to *explicitly* disable sending any cookies to the
FE. Otherwise, you will continue to use your session management and cookies
will still flow !

Hope it helps.
