I've given up on unmoderated news
groups - the S/N is just too low and
the denizens too irritating.
I have all my mailinglists sent to
a separate account which I read offline on my PalmPilot whilst taking
the train to work.
I can't imagine I'd bother to plow
though all the junk that would appear on a gatewayed list.
Whilst I doubt my setup is typical,
I have noticed that many of the
key contributers to the list do so from their own accounts (in their own time?). Any
action that chases
these people away is to be avoided.
If either of the above events take
place (gateway or shutdown) I'll probably host an 'advanced-servlets' list myself.
I guess this topic itself is borderline
noise, so please lets take the
discussion 'off-list '
