Title: RE: Stateful servlets?

Hi,

Once a servlet is loaded, how long can i expect it's life span to be ? When exactly will the servlet instance be removed from the memory ? Coming to the design aspects, in this scenario, is it better to have a single servlet taking care of all transactions (roughly in each HTML forms) or to have individual servlets serving individual transactions or forms ?

Thanks,
Mohan

You don't need to... the server does this.

All the servlet has to do when a request comes in is ask the request
if it has an associated session.

If it does you can get full access to the session details.

You don't know when a user logs off because a user may not have
"logged on" to create the session.

Sessions are not primarily a security feature, they just help
servlets maintain state between http requests.

    Hope it helps.
