I have been using IE5 with servlets and the performance is fine. You do
however need to load the Microsoft Virtual Machine to run an applet. You can
do that by getting it off the msn network http://www.microsoft.com and
searching under IE5. I believe there is a button under tools that you can do
this on too. Also you can click on help then click on "find and repair" do
fix any problems with IE5. I found that servelets under IE5 work just as
fast if not faster than the previous versions.

You don't need any xtra plugins or s/w in order to run servlets on IE5. It
is self sufficient to run it on its own.
