from the Servlet API:

public void
javax.servlet.http.HttpSessionBindingListener.valueUnbound(HttpSessionBindin
gEvent event)
Notifies the listener that it is being unbound from a session.

Subject: Session tracking on timeout

        It there anyway to be notified when a session expires?
Or more importantly, be notified just before the session expires?
I have a situation where I need to know that a session is about
to expire, so I can clean up some of the information associated
with the session (open files & connections).
