It seems we all got carried away with the slightly misleading title of the
original post (e-mail with servlets). Now that I read it carefully, it is
a MAIL SERVER that Peter requires and we may assume that he can write a
servlet to do SMTP/POP3 mail management in his preferred way.
Peter,
If this interpretation is correct, then have a look at
http://www.cs.tuiasi.ro/library/nt4webdevel/ch26.htm
which describes how to set up a mail server and has pointers to freeware.
Most of the stuff is for NT but from there on you will find 95 versions if
necessary.
Normally, if you can use SMTP/POP3 whether you come from a servlet or a
NScape mail client shouldn't make a difference.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Have fun,
Kostas
