Jacqueline,

You can develop and test servlets just fine on Win95 (I have done it on
Win98). Although, everything works easier and better on Solaris and/or
Linux (DISCLAIMER: thoroughly personal opinion ;-).

I would suggest using JSWDK-1.0.1 over JSDK-2.1. Both are from Sun and
both are servlet API 2.1 compliant. JSWDK-1.0.1 just happens to have
bug-fixes, particularly for Windows, that JSDK-2.1 does not have. As
well, JSWDK includes the JSP reference implementation. <
The webserver.xml file you mention is a part of JSWDK and not JSDK, as
you found out. JSDK uses a file called "default.cfg" that uses a
different format, but for essentially the same purpose.

Hope this helps,

Shash

PS: If any Sun folks happen to see this, why does Sun continue to have
both products that attempt to do identical things and one is clearly
superior to other....it just creates a lot of unnecessary confusion. But
I would add, that I would rather have two good and free products rather
than none ;-).
