I want to have a form on a web page which takes in details to be sent to someone in an
e-mail with the use of a servlet that I must write.

The web page will take the following info;
TO: (email)
From: (email)
Text:

Do I just take in this information & send it to a mailserver & this deals with the
rest?

What exactly is required for this to work?...

A mail server....must this support SMTP?
The port of the mail server....?
Do I need the JavaMail API....?
Do I need any kind of smtp client?
What else is needed?

Must the users of the web page form have an email account at my mail server?

(Sorry if my questions seem simple, but I'm new to java & servlets & I've already
searched through the mail list archives & I'm still a little unsure of how this all
works.)

Any & all help is very much appreciated
Peter
