Perhaps the "chain of communication" is incomplete. I am running the
servletrunner program. In order for me to see the effect of a servlet in
the browser the following tasks must be done for, say Abc.java: 1) Abc.class
file moved to the appropriate subdirectory (and this subdirectory varies
from server to server), 2) for Sun's servletrunner, the servlet.properties
file must have an entry as follows Abc.code=Abc (again this part may be
different for other servers), 3) the Sun servletrunner must be started
after steps 1 and 2, 4) to access via a url you must include the port the
server is listening on and have the appropriate path - for me its something
like http://localhost:8080/servlet/Abc and to access the servlet from a
<SESSION... element you need a url with the "correct" port number and path.

After I have done all that I can have the browser communicate with the
servlet. But failure to do any of the above can (and in my case HAS) cause a
404.

Good luck,
Ted

        Have you tried '%20' ?

        http://myhost.com/space%20dir/index.html

Netscape in particular has problems with these, but this gets around
it
        (usually!!)

        try it out.
