1. why are you using an applet for authentication?
you can authenticate access to a servlet
2. have you ever heard of sessions?
they can help you ensure that a servlet knows where it is in a
sequence of pages
Search around on the web for more servlet info, read the stuff on the
java.sun.com site and go throught the archives of this list.
