Do it! It will increase the performance significantly since opening an
connecition to the database is a costly action.

Depends on the load of the systems. How many users are comming by? How many
concurrent users do you have. Mostly the connecions are only needed for a very
short time so the connection dies off pretty quickly. One connection costs a
bout 2MB of RAM on the oracle server. So do some math and you know how
much resources are needed for the server.

So the current set up will work. And will problably hold for quite some time
but connection pooling will both benefit the servlets since the connection do
not need to be opened time after time and because this allows you to compute
the ammount of memory you want to spent on connection on the oracle server.
