>Streaming of data means? How is it done or achieved?
>Will the entire form data sent to the server?
If you don't know this you either shouldn't care or shouldn't be
using servlets.
This is a SERVLET interest forum - it's not about the basics of
HTTP.
You can find out the answer to this question by reding around on the
web, or by looking through the archives on this list.
Basically: <FORM> data, when sent with a POST is sent in the request
body of an HTTP message.
All HTTP request messages are structured like this:
METHOD /url HTTP/version
header: value
[cr-lf]
request-body
[cr-lf]
So a POST might look like this:
POST /someurl HTTP/1.0
Accept: image/png text/html text/plain
formparam=value1&formparam2=value2&formparam3&formparam4=value3
>Cause I have created a simple web server to
>monitor the requests from browser,
No you haven't. You are not reading the request properly.
>So when I used it to monitor the request, I was surprised
>to see there was no form data passed back to the
>server. Can you tell me how this is achieved?
As above (and also in many places on the archive which you should
check first).
>I also heard that for large data, it's advisable to use
>POST rather than GET why is it so?
I believe someone has already explained this in another reply to
you.
Perhaps you don't read those as well as the archive where this has
been explained 100 times.
The GET line is sometimes trucated by browser or by server. POST data
is never truncated and therefore can carry a lot more information.
Once again: PLEASE read the archives of this list before asking what
is a very basic and fundamental (but also esoteric and irrelevant)
question.
