For subject one, you might try one of Java's transfer statements (break,
continue, return, try-catch-finally perhaps with a label (labels can be used
with break and continue) perhaps in some type of loop. Don't know about
subject 2.

Subject: Servlet Questions

Hi. I have two questions about servlets/http servlets.

1. Is there a way of stopping the execution of a servlet until something
occurs? Like wait and notify of the java object class. I want the servlet to
receive a request, then wait for another object to complete something, the
other object then "notifies" the servlet and it continues with it's
execution.

2. Is there any way of contacting a specific servlet instance, or thread
since the possibility to get a session from it's session id was deprecated,
getSession( id ). That is, can one make a method call to a servlet without
responding to a method call from the servlet. Would RMI be a viable way?
