Mike:
In our company, we dont write code using the Java-GUI much; we primarily write
servlets and JSPs. (So I guess you could say that the browser provides our
GUI..) Recently we very successfully rewrote an old applet (which just used the
AWT I think) into a servlet/JSP application. However, we routinely use several
Java applications that heavily lean on Swing components (like JCVS).. It's
heartening to learn that Universities are starting to get serious about
offering Java courses: while I was in school, no-one was interested in putiing
in the effort towards designing a new course, so anyone who wanted to learn
Java was pretty much out on their own. Good luck with your new course!
Geeta
