Hey Sam, thanks for the reply. I tried changing over to SDK 1.3, but the same problems 
occur. I think (and I'm no network guru to say that this is right) that startserver 
and stopserver are trying to use my network IP address instead of 127.0.0.1, because 
when I type stopserver at the command line and press enter, a ton of exceptions are 
thrown, and the first couple say that stopserver can't be used because a 
ConnectionException is thrown, at it lists my network IP address instead of the local 
IP address...I feel like I'm missing something really obvious...any other suggestions?

JSDK 2.1 works better with  java 2 SDK 1.3, I think.
