Silvia:

Look in the API under "java.text.SimpleDateFormat".. Use the getCalendar()
method to then use the Calendar methods like getTimeInMillis(). This should
answer your first two questions. For the third, use
java.text.SimpleDateFormat.parse(Sring) (inherited from java.text.DateFormat).
