what i need is the presentation bits. if i use a http table then it look
pretty ugly. could i not display the results in another presentable way?

What do you mean, YOU control how the data is respresented. Output XML, or
write it to a file, create an Excel document or convert is to
Postscript/PDF,
whatever format you want it to have. It's up to you.
