try running the servletrunner at the dos prompt by redirecting it to a file.
this will redirect the error you are getting to the file, which you can open
and see what your error is.

e.g.. servletrunner > temp.txt

Hi,

How do I know that 8080 port is already being used. I am using windows 2000.
After installing Tomcat also, the screen is just flashing and going away.

Bye

Is the "flashing screen" a console window opened and then quickly closed?
Try
to run the file in question from a console you opened by yourself so you can
see what error(s) JSWDK returns.

>From what I heard, JSWDK lacks some features which makes development much
harder (like servlet reloading), so I recommend you to download Tomcat
(http://jakarta.apache.org). It's fairly powerful and easy to set up and get
started with.
