Can anyon tell me the meaning of the value assigned to DOCTYPE in the
below code, in a servlet. I want to know what it does, by prefixing
before the exact HTMLcode in a servlet...

"<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN\">";
