You could get the server on port 80 to send a redirect to
www.abc.com:8080 - I don't know how it's implemented in browsers,
but there is an http error code (303? 30Something I think) that
denotes a permanent redirect (i.e. your saying that the redirected
web address is the new permanent one).
Otherwise the only vague idea I have is if you can change your
browser settings some how - but that would only work for you,
not for any other users unless they did the same.
